Who we are
Founded in July 2012, The Coalition to Stop Maternal Mortality Due to Unsafe Abortion (CSMMUA) is a multidisciplinary Ugandan civil society coalition comprised of individuals, health service providers, legal service providers, professional associations, civil society organisations and individual members. The Secretariat of the Coalition is the Center for Health, Human Rights and Development (CEHURD).
CSMMUA as a multi-disciplinary coalition is committed to the reduction of unsafe abortion in Uganda through legal and policy improvement, access to quality and comprehensive services for the prevention and management of unwanted or unplanned pregnancy and the reduction of maternal mobility and mortality due to unsafe abortion stigma and discrimination.

OUR MISSION
We are a national, multidisciplinary Coalition of organizations and individual members committed to the reduction of unsafe abortion in Uganda through legal and policy improvement, access to quality and comprehensive services for the prevention and management of unwanted/unplanned pregnancy and the reduction of maternal morbidity and mortality due to unsafe abortion, stigma and discrimination.
